Ruth Reichl, world-renowned food critic and editor-in-chief of Gourmet magazine, knows a thing or two about food.  Unlike lesser-known New York City food critics,   Reichl really needs to “go undercover” when she tries out restaurants, and in this book she reveals some of the comic absurdities of the epicurean world that she uncovered while in various eccentric disguises.

Writing consultant Sue Hartt will facilitate discussion.

Garlic and Sapphires pulls back the curtain on Reichl’s six-year tenure at The Times, and it’s never less than fascinating.  --New York Times Book Review

This wonderful book is laugh-out-loud funny--and smart and wise. --The Washington Post

  •  Books available for checkout at New Haven Public Library
  • Registered participants will receive an emailed coupon for a free coffee from at Blue State Coffee--just pick it up before the discussion! Blue State is around the corner from the library on Wall Street. (while supplies last)
